Emmy Award-winning journalist Rachel Nichols Expands Relationship with SI
New show adds to SI TV’s growing slate of original programming on its free ad-supported streaming television channel
NEW YORK (October 14, 2026) – Sports Illustrated, the premier 360-degree sports media platform, today announced that Emmy Award-winning journalist Rachel Nichols will host a new weekday show, “The Story with Rachel Nichols”, on SI TV. The show will premiere on Monday, October 19, adding to the 24/7 streaming channel’s original programming slate. The show trailer can be viewed HERE.
“The Story with Rachel Nichols” brings Sports Illustrated’s signature journalism and storytelling to a fast-paced daily show that goes beyond the headlines to uncover the stories between the lines every morning at 9 a.m. ET, Monday-Friday. Nichols delivers the insight, perspective and context the box score can’t provide across all sports in this new show, which will also be available via SI.com and the SI YouTube channel.
Minute, a leading global sports content and technology company, operates the Sports Illustrated publishing business on all platforms including SI.com, SI social channels, SI’s award-winning magazine and SI TV.
"This show is built around the stories behind the scores," said Rachel Nichols, host of “The Story with Rachel Nichols.” "That's what Sports Illustrated does better than anyone, and I'm thrilled to be expanding my relationship with the most iconic name in sports coverage."
Nichols brings more than three decades of sports journalism expertise to the platform. In addition to “The Story,” Nichols will continue her roles as co-host of SI’s Open Floor podcast with SI senior writer Chris Mannix, host/analyst at Fox Sports and a host at Monumental Sports Network.
"'The Story With Rachel Nichols' is the perfect flagship for SI TV," said Steve Cannella, editor-in-chief of Sports Illustrated. "Rachel is a premiere sports journalist, with deep experience, an eye for great stories and a unique voice that will make SI TV an essential stop every morning for smart sports fans."
The new show bolsters a robust lineup of original programming, live events, sports lifestyle and behind-the-scenes archival content on the 24/7 FAST channel. Since its launch earlier this year, SI TV has significantly expanded its reach and is available to more than 125 million viewers across 13 streaming platforms. SI TV is now available on Xumo Play, in addition to distributors Prime Video, Amazon Fire TV, The Roku Channel, DIRECTV, Sling Freestream, LocalNow, Sports.tv, Plex, Free Live Sports, Tablo TV and Anoki AI.
Since its launch in January, SI TV’s slate of live events has included the PGA Tourcast, men’s and women’s sports from the Northeast Conference, NASCAR Euro Series, Major League Table Tennis, American Association of Professional Baseball (MLB Partner League) and more. Live college football has become the channel’s most-watched programming, setting SI TV’s largest single-day audience on record this September.
SI TV's original programming also features exclusive short-form storytelling with the biggest names in sports as well as long-form documentaries such as the newly released “Ohtani: Made in Iwate,” directed by Max Whittle, which explores the city where Ohtani grew up and captures the culture and community that raised baseball’s brightest star.
